This periodical is published weekly. (adv.)

Daily/Weekly/Quarterly newspapers are published daily/weekly/quarterly.

Если суффикс -ly добавляется к таким словам как man, king, scholar (со значением ‘having the nature or qualities of’), получающееся в результате слово – всегда прилагательное и не употребляется как наречие. Например:

К таким часто встречающимся словам относятся clean, clear, close, dead, direct, easy, fair, firm, high, large, loud, mighty, pretty, quick, right, sharp, slow, soft, sound, sure, tight, wide.

The bullet went clear through the door.

He is clearly wrong (clearly in the wrong).
Can you see clearly from here?
I can't see the road clearly.
You must clearly understand that . . .
It must be clearly understood that . . .

The moon shone clear(ly).
He spoke loud(ly) and clear (ly).

He speaks very (quite) clearly. (Можно и 'He spoke loud and clear'.)

Stay close to me.
He was following close behind.
This success brings us closer to final victory.

Wrongly употребляется перед причастиями прошедшего времени: ‘We were wrongly informed’.

В случае наречий hard / hardly, just / justly, late / lately и most / mostly есть существенная разница уже в значении.

hard; look hard at somebody; freezing hard; hard at work; be hard put to it (be in difficulties); hard (close) by; running as hard as he could.

Hardly чаще всего имеет значение ‘scarcely’: hardly long enough (not quite long enough); hardly ever (very seldom). I hardly know her. You'd hardly believe it.

He works hard. (= He is a hard worker.)
He hardly does anything nowadays. (He does very little.)
He was hard hit by the financial crisis (= he was hit hard, he suffered severe losses).
He was hardly hit by the financial crisis (= it had hardly any, scarcely any, effect on him, so that he did not suffer much loss).

Hardly иногда может иметь значение ‘with difficulty’, но этого лучше избегать из-за риска двусмысленности: Hardly earned money может значить как ‘money earned with difficulty’, так и ‘money that was earned without the proper amount of work being done, money that was scarcely earned’.
По этой же причине лучше сказать hard-earned money, чем hardly earned money, когда смысл - ‘money earned with hard work’.

Наречие justly имеет значение ‘with right or justice’: As you justly (rightly) observe . , . He was justly punished.

Наречие just не имеет уже прямой связи с прилагательным just или существительным justice: just so (quite so, or, in exactly that manner); just now; just then; just here; just as you say. We only just managed to catch the train. I’ve just seen him. He earns just enough for his needs.

Наречие late - антоним наречия early: go to bed late; stay up late; arrive late; marry late in life; sooner or later.

Lately означает ‘recently’: I haven't seen him lately.

Наречие mostly имеет значение ‘for the most part’: The motor-cars manufactured in England in 1952 were mostly exported. Houses built in England are mostly of brick or stone.

Most – превосходная степень many/much: What pleased me most was that . . . The people most concerned in the business.

This medicine tastes nasty (= is nasty when tasted).
The roses smell sweet (= are sweet to the sense of smell).
You will feel safe with him (feel that you are safe).

The man smelt strongly of whisky.
This soup tastes strongly of fish.

It's not very interesting (не ‘It’s little interesting’.)

How are you? – A little better, thanks.
The new model is little faster than the old one.

A little может употребляться с тем же смыслом, что a bit перед прилагательными и наречиями:

You must forgive her - she's a little confused.
They arrived a little late.

Употребляется оборот little known:

He's studying the work of [a little known German novelist].

A lot и a great deal могут употребляться как наречия:

The government seems to change its mind a great deal.

Do you work much at weekends?
I don't travel much these days.
She's much older than her brother.
I don't drive much faster than you.

I much appreciate your help.
We much prefer the country to the town.
I didn't much enjoy the concert.

I very much like your new hairstyle.
Thank you very much.
There's [a whole lot of water] coming under the door. (before noun) (не ‘There's very much water coming... ’ )

They all talk a lot, but your little girl talks (the) most.
The truth hurts most.

That is most kind of you.
Thank you for a most interesting afternoon.
The experience was most distressing.

Your little girl talks the most. (не ‘...talks mostly’.)
She mostly talks about her friends.

I couldn't agree more.
I hate this job more and more as the years go by.

I worry less than I used to.

She always arrives when you least expect it.
I don't much like housework, and I like cooking least of all.

All the people were singing → The people were all singing.

We can all swim.
Those apples were all bad.
The guests have all arrived.
My family all work in education.

Из всех уточнителей подобную операцию можно совершать только с all, both и each:

They were all/both waiting for the teacher.
They have each told me the same story.

You're all wet. She walked all round the town.
I was all alone. Tell me all about your holiday.
It's all because of you. I looked all round, but I couldn't see anything.

Neither и nor употребляются как наречия со значением 'also not'.

I can't swim. - Neither/Nor can I. (не ‘I also can't’.)
Ruth didn't turn up, and neither/nor did Kate. (не ‘...and Kate didn't too’.)

I can't swim. - I can't either.
Ruth didn't turn up, and Kate didn't either.

I'm only guessing at that.

Is it warm enough for you? (не ‘...enough warm... ’ )
You're not driving fast enough.

The situation is very serious.
I came very quickly.
It's not very warm - you'd better take a coat.
That meal wasn't very expensive. (= quite cheap.)

I'm very much happier in my new job. (не ‘...very happier...’)
She was very much loved by her grandchildren. (не ‘She was very loved’.)
Journey times will be very much reduced by the new road. (не ‘...very
reduced... ’)

I'm very worried about Angela. (не ‘...very much worried... ’)
We were very surprised when Pete passed his exam. (лучше, чем ‘...very much surprised...’)

We very much enjoyed the party. (не ‘We very enjoyed’.)
That amuses me very much.
I very much like mountains. (не ‘I like very much mountains’.)

Prepositional Phrase/

(Modifier) + preposition + Object of a preposition

just before breakfast
at the cinema
They walked towards the setting sun.
On Saturday there's going to be a disco.

(Object of a preposition).

Wh-question: Who did you go to the party with? Who's the present for?
Infinitive clause: I've got a tape for you to listen to. The village is pleasant to live in.
Passive: War reporters sometimes get shot at. She likes to be looked at.
Relative clause: That's the article I told you about. Joe's the person that I'm angry with.

а) состоять из одного слова: at, on, if, off…
b) быть составными: into (in + to), onto (on + to), throughout (through + out)…
c) состоять из нескольких отдельных слов: in front of, out of, up to…

(Tense/Aspect):
