4-6. Восклицательные предложения

 
Восклицания часто «образуются» с помощью слов how/what и so/such, а также в виде вопросов с отрицанием.

HOW

1. How + adjective:

Strawberries! How nice!

2. how + adjective/adverb + subject + verb:

How cold it is!
How beautifully you sing!

3. how + subject + verb:

How you've grown!

(восклицания с how звучат несколько старомодно)

WHAT

1. what a/an (+ adjective) + singular countable noun:

What a rude man! (не ‘What rude man!’)
What a nice dress! (не ‘ What nice dress!’)
What a surprise!

2. what (+ adjective) + uncountable/plural noun:

What beautiful weather! (не ‘What a beautiful weather!’)
What lovely flowers!
What fools!

3. what + object + subject + verb:

What a beautiful smile your sister has! (не ‘...has you sister!

SO

so + adjective:

You're so kind!

SUCH

1. such a/an (+ adjective) + singular countable noun:

He's such a nice boy! (не ‘...a such nice boy.’)

2. such (+ adjective) + uncountable/plural noun:

They talk such rubbish! (не ‘such a rubbish! ’
They're such kind people! (не ‘…so kind people!’)

Восклицание в виде вопросов с отрицанием:

Isn't the weather nice!
Hasn't she grown!

Иногда (особенно в США) восклицания могут быть в виде вопросов без отрицания:

Boy, am I hungry!
Wow, did she make a mistake!
Was I furious!
