6-13. Придаточные клозы результата (Result clauses)

1. В таких предложениях также используется союз so that (что иногда может привести к двусмысленности):

So that everyone could/ should/would hear the announcement, we turned the radio up to the maximum volume (цель).
We turned the radio up, so that everyone heard the announcement (результат)
We turned the radio up so that everyone could hear the announce¬ment (цель или результат)

2. So +adjective/adverb + that . . . will обязательно идет после главного предложения:

His speech was so clear/He spoke so clearly that we could understand every word.

Может употребляться сочетание such (a) (+ adjective) + noun + that . . .:

He made such a (good) speech /advanced such convincing arguments/showed such (great) courage that he was elected unanimously.

В литературном стиле noun phrase может принимать следующий вид:

He made a speech so remarkable/so remarkable a speech that he was elected, etc.
He advanced arguments so convincing/displayed so unshakable that he was elected, etc.
So convincing were his arguments that he was elected, etc.

Придаточный клоз может в разговорном стиле идти перед главным следующим образом:

We could see Mont Blanc clearly, the visibility was so good.
