Verb phrase = (auxiliary/auxiliaries) + main verb

The ship sank.
The ship is sinking.
The ship has been sunk.
The ship must have been sinking.

Noun phrase = determinative + (premodification) + head + (postmodification/complementation)

I remember him
I remember his wedding
I remember that girl with the red hair
I remember all those days in the country last year.
I remember a better story than that.
I remember the best trip that I ever had.
I remember a good trip that I once had.

Adjective Phrase = (premodification) + head + (postmodification/complementation)

The weather was pleasant.
The weather was pleasant enough.
The weather was incredibly cold.
The weather was too hot to be enjoyable.

Adverb phrase = premodification + head + postmodification/complementation

I spoke to him yesterday.
I spoke to him quite often.
I spoke to him very severely indeed.
I spoke to him as clearly as I could.
