3-7. Оператор used

И в качестве оператора в литературном языке может употребляться глагол used to:

He [used to smoke], I know.
He [used not/usedn't to smoke] a pipe.
Used he to smoke a pipe?
Usedn't he to smoke a pipe?

Такое употребление в tag-questions и выражениях типа ‘so… she’ употребление used уже совсем устарело:

He used to smoke, didn't he?
He used to smoke, and so did she.
